Happy New Year!
Many thanks to our outgoing Co-Presidents
Don & Linda Jones for keeping us in focus and running
the show single handedly over the past three years.
Great job Don & Linda and thanks for your years of
leadership and service.
We are off to a New Year and new leadership in our Pond
Society. I have always wanted to see a little more
formality in our organization and with all of our members
cooperation and assistance we can achieve that
goal.
First of all, I want to develop a set of bylaws and a
constitution for us to follow. If anyone has
experience in developing the above mentioned articles,
please dont be bashful and volunteer to help
develop a concise set of operating rules/instructions.
Second, in the process of becoming more organized, I
propose to have a slate of officers to help lead our
organization throughout the year. Proposed
positions are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and
Secretary. I think we also will need a Program
Chairperson, Committee Chairperson and Newsletter
Editor. I envision the President and Vice President
positions to be 2 year terms and the other positions 1
year terms. The VP would be the incoming President
after serving as VP. This would be included in the
bylaws and constitution and be approved by the
membership.
Third, I am going to work with the Infernal Revnu
Survus to attempt to get a tax exempt status for
our organization so it will be easier for us to receive
and distribute money without fear of interference from
the taxing authorities.
Fourth, since we will (hopefully) have a not for
profit tax exempt status and a Treasurer, we will
be able to have a dues structure and have a few dollars
on hand for operating expenses. All of the other
Pond Societies that I have contacted charge dues anywhere
from $15.00 for single to $250.00 for corporate
membership. The dues structure for our organization
is yet to be determined and we are open for a reasonable
consensus. In any case, an annual audit of the WPS
funds will be required.
Our current email list of members is
quite large. There are addressees that are no
longer valid. There are addresses of folks who are not
interested in the Waco Pond Society as
they have NEVER attended a meeting nor offered to put
their ponds on the pond tours. The leadership team
will work to get those folks more active in the
organization, become dues paying members or remove them
from the mailing list/membership roster.
Your suggestions are solicited and encouraged. My
memory is not as good as it once was so I request that
your suggestions and recommendations be put in writing so
I can be sure that we have a record of your input for
inclusion. Send me an email with your ideas and or
suggestions at:
I am looking forward to leading the Waco Pond Society to
the very best of my ability and with the support of the
Officers and Membership, I am certain that we will have a
great pondering year. I thank you all
in advance for your cooperation and support.

WPS President
On the lighter side
The grass might be greener on the other side
of the fence, but you will still have to mow it.
And Another One Boudreaux went to the
revival and listened to the preacher. After a
while, the preacher asked that anyone with needs to come
forward and be prayed over.
Boudreaux got in line.
When it was his turn, the preacher said, Boudreaux,
what do you want me to pray about?
Preacher, I need you to pray for my hearing,
he replied.
So the preacher put one finger in Boudreauxs ear
and the other on top of his head and prayed.
After a few minutes, he removed his hands and said,
Well, Boudreaux how is your hearing now?
Boudreaux scratched his head and said, I dont
know, preacher, its not until next Wednesday in
Opelousas.
